Now that the season is underway I thought I would take the opportunity to keep everyone up to speed with what is happening at our club.
The club continues to go from strength to strength. We are well on our way
to being represented at every age group available to us which has been our
aim for a number of years now.
I’d like to take this opportunity to officially welcome into the club
Asha Savage as the Development Team Manager, Tez Malhi as Manager of the
U8’s and Matt Kearns as Manager of the U9’s also Dan O’Gara
as the U12’s new Assistant Manager. All are welcome additions to the
team and in all cases I wish them the best of luck with their respective
teams this season.
This year see’s the launch of the FA’s respect campaign. The
campaign is all about showing respect towards match officials and is whole
heartedly backed by the club. The campaign is not just aimed at players
but at managers and coaches and those people who support the teams. At a
local level the campaign is vital to the Community and City Leagues. It
would be impossible for either league to effectively function without match
officials so your support of the campaign is much appreciated.
I would also like to remind everyone that our Managers need your support
and backing in what is a difficult job and a job that is entirely voluntary.
For guidelines please look at the clubs code of conduct, available from
the club website.
Fundraising
We will be holding our annual Christmas prize draw again this year. The
prizes are yet to be confirmed but the first prize will again be a games
consul. Please support the draw as it is a major source of income for the
club and there are always excellent prizes to be won.
Presentation Night
Many of you may have seen from the Derby Evening Telegraph that we will
not be holding our annual awards night at Pride Park this year. We are grateful
to Derby County for allowing us to use the Toyota suite over the last few
years but it’s time to move on. The biggest challenge for presentation
night is to find a venue where we can keep the whole club together at a
single event. Thanks to Roy Alcock we have secured the use of the Riverside
Centre on Pride Park, the venue is excellent and will easily accommodate
everyone. The presentation Night is booked for Friday 28th May 2010 so please
book a space in your diary.
Finally you will have noticed the new “Kit Room” tab on the
website. This is a great way of recycling boots or any other kit that has
been grown out of and just as importantly keeping cost down. I would encourage
everyone to use it.
